Betsy, wife of Lieutenant Joseph Brown, who was a Revolutionary War soldier like his father Captain Joseph Brown. They married on 27 June 1793 in NH. They raised four kids: Nathan, Polly, Nancy and Anna. Joseph Brown was one of the first voters in Wilmot, New Hampshire after it’s incorporation in 1807. Joseph was teaching school in 1815. They lived in a house on the side of Kearsarge Mountain. Betsy died in 1843 and Joseph died in 1844 and is buried with her husband in the Carr Cemetery.
The piece has wear, fading, stains, threads missing, however in overall fair/good condition and framed well. Frame appears to be 19thC and unfortunately was repainted gold in the 20thC. Original red paint can be seen in many spots. Additional images available upon request. Please don't be shy about offers.
