Huge mirror lens 2540mm focal length, aperture F/8 ! ! !
These lenses were used by the NASA for tracking the Saturn V or similar.
I was told by the grandson of its producer John H. Ransom, that the tragedy of
the Space Shuttle Challenger was tracked and filmed with Jonel lenses
( the most of them are still in use ).
They used high speed 70mm movie cameras like the Photosonics 70mm 10R with
up to 125 fps on 6x6 frames ( this camera is also for sale, seperate )
It is a Schmidt-Cassegrain design with a two element field corrector to produce a 57x57mm image format ( 80mm image diameter or more ).
This lens is unique. Optics mint, barrel mint- ( some loss of paint ).
The barrel is incorporating a system to avoid humidity inside, it is very rigid, and the design is very sophisticated, compared to modern Astro cameras.
I added a test shot : a blow up of a raw file ( Canon EOS 600d ), taken with the big
brother of the Jonel 100, the Jonel 200 ( 5080mm F/16 ) at 600 feet distance.
The diameter of the small star sector target was 40mm. Resolution is a little more than
100 lines per mm ( 50 line pairs per mm ) with the Jonel 200, and will be a bit more
with the Jonel 100.
Original costs (for NASA) : about one family home.
180 pounds in original case. Ask me for tripods, heads and for focusing units.
You may compare it with the actual lenses from Brashear ( 50"/ 100"/ 150" ). And by
the way, ask them for their pricing . . . . . :-)
One word to those " buy a 12" Meade AND a home " astro-dudes :
Astrograph Veloce RH 300 f/3 with just 60mm image circle . . . but again, the design
of the Jonel is much more sophisticated.

Please also check the Carl Zeiss Mirotar 5,6/1000mm, designed for 56x56mm,
( the sharpest non military Telelens for 6x6 ).
I wish I had a 8/2540mm Mirotar, but the cost would be more than 10 family homes . . .
The picture shows me with the Jonel 200 ( sold ) and a "lightweight" tripod/head
combination ( payload up to 380 pounds ) and a focusing unit, carrying my Pentax 6x7.

Refurbishment of 8 Jonel 100" and 200" telescopes in accordance with a statement of work that requires testing for resolution -- center of field and one inch off axis; transmission -- use of source about CT=3000 degrees Kelvin; back focal length; F/#; disassembly and evaluation, resulting in a written report. After approval of the report the contractor, as necessary, will: clean the telescope barrel and components, giving special care to removal of residue from refractive elements; repaint and replace the light absorbing material in the barrel; send out elements for recoating ("Protected Silver" is the specified coating for the mirror elements); repaint Lens Housing to include: stripping of the old paint off the lens housing; mask and paint lens housing "Range White."
